This latest original piano composition by N. R. Whitaker entitled Mane Undosus roughly translates as ‘Morning Water’ or ‘Early Flow’ from the Latin. The whole music flows out of one pulsating note before it returns to rest at the end of the piece, echoing the ebb and flow of water itself.

The photograph taken by the composer in 2019 is of the modernist Il Funtana tat Tritoni (Tritons’ Fountain) in Valetta, Malta. The spiralling figures and water fountains echo the spiralling of the music out from its still centre.
